Hieronymous Bosch in his garden of earthly delights seems to use delicious fruits in particular the strawberry as a symbol of human frailty or indulgent decadence. Whereas I feel that it is the very fundamental and integral part of life. The fruit and in particular the strawberry is meant to be eaten, this is the entire reason why the plant produces the fruit. The plants live in a symbiotic relationship with us, we get nourishment from their fruits and the plant gets it's seeds distributed. Isn't this the meaning of life?
